K7ZSD is located at Smoke Ranch, 25 miles NW of Portland, Oregon, near the small village of Scappoose. The location is in the Tualatin Mt's. at an elevation of 1600', heavily forested with Douglas Fir trees. I received my novice license in 1963 as KN7ZSD at the age of 14, and 6 months later the current call K7ZSD. My main interest in the hobby is HF radio, and I enjoy building much of my station. You'll find me on 40 meters a night or two a week, and during many of the major contests.
